Dear Coaches,
Please keep this informational letter handy throughout this Fall-2011 Season.
League play begins Saturday, August 20th. League play must be completed by October 31st. There are many teams from
There will be no games scheduled at the Jeffrey C. Dible Soccer Complex in South Sioux City. The complex remains flooded and will be out of play for this Fall Season and possibly beyond.. A new complex has been developed in Sioux City to help with the games scheduled this Season. The new complex is called Sioux City Riverside Park. The Initials will be SCR. The NSL website will be updated to reflect this new location. Fields 1 and 2 will be for U13 and older games. Fields 3 and 4 will be for U11/U12 games. If you have any questions concerning Sioux City Fields, you may call Ron Koch (Field and Referee Assignor) at 712-204-4204.
Glenwood, Iowa also has a new field location which will be posted on the web. Gretna will have a new configuration which will be posted on the web as well.
There is also a new field location in
Special Note! The Abbott Soccer Complex in
Abbott no longer has a Game Status Line. The status of NSL games at Abbott will be posted on the main NSL Status Line 402-827-9886.
There are several games scheduled in the
Coaches packets were provided to Club Directors at the Breakout Meeting of July 13th. Several Clubs were not in attendance. Those packets will be mailed to Club Directors by August 11th. Included in your packet, are game cards, stick-on rosters to be used by away teams, a change in the U11/U12 substitution rule, and a brief cover letter. A list of Clubs that have received or not received their packets can be found HERE. It will be updated until all Clubs have been sent their packets. Everything else is available on the web. Schedules, Coaches Handbook, Standings, Coaches Lists, Game Status Phone Numbers, Field Listings and Locations, and much more can be found on the web (www.nsle.com). In addition, there are several new field maps. Please take the time to scroll thru the website. Coaches lists and Standings will be set up on the web after schedules are posted.
If you are the first team listed on the schedule, you are
designated as the home team and must surrender colors should there be a
conflict. Home teams,
please have the game card ready and completed properly for the referee and
opposing coach. Away teams, please have
your stick-on roster completed and ready to attach to the roster section of the
4-piece game card. Attention Coaches, in addition to your player passes, please have your
State Certified Roster available at all games.
Please look over your schedules for typos or errors. Notify me (John Sozio – Executive Director) at 1-888-637-6223 or E-mail me should you find any. Also, verify your name and phone number are correct on the appropriate Coaches List. The Fall 2011 Coaches Lists will be available on the NSL web site by August 14th. Schedules are to be posted by August 11th on the NSL web site. If there is any problem with the August 11th posting date, a note will be placed on the web site. Please Note! Once the schedules are placed on the web, you will be able to look up the divisional schedule as well as the individual team schedule. The individual team schedules is an enhancement to the website.
Please see list of coaches and teams for other important phone numbers.
Standings will be updated periodically from scores provided on referee game cards or on-line game reports. Please don't call for standings. The Nebraska Soccer League has a web-site on the internet;
This site will include standings, scores, schedules, coaches lists, League information, maps, and more.
Please do not call in scores, send in your game card or send an E-mail, jsozio@nsle.com . The standings are updated off of the referee cards or on-line game reports. If there is a question on a game, I will call you.
The letters 'CR' in the game number designates a crossover game. These games have no bearing on standings, promotion, or relegation. They are simply cross-divisional friendship games that provide a greater variety of opponents for teams within the NSL to play. The League also has as members 'Guest Teams'. These teams are not playing a full schedule within a division. These teams have paid a deposit to the League and are subject to all League rules and regulations when playing an NSL team. Their games are treated as crossover games.
The letters 'DH' next to the time of the game indicates at least one of those teams involved in that game is playing a doubleheader that day.
We have tried very hard to honor everyone's requests, in several cases this was not possible. Some variances had to be made to fulfill the schedule issued. The vast majority of known requests were honored.
There are no games scheduled at all on Labor Day Weekend (September 2, 3, 4, 5). Please Note! Look at your schedules carefully. You will be able to view just your team’s schedule as well as the divisional schedule.
Please bring a net and three corner flags to all your
games. Most
Game cards: If you are the home team, please fill out the
game cards properly and legibly. Make
very sure that the Game # is on the card.
You should have the game cards ready prior to arriving at the field for
your game. If you are the away team,
make sure your completed stick-on roster is placed on the proper game
card. Please note! Put the complete game number on the game
cards. The complete game number (for
example; 13B102) identifies the age, division, and game within that
division. It is very important that the
complete game number is on the game cards.
Reschedules: The Competition Coordinator will reschedule weather related postponements on a per case basis. Some games may not be rescheduled. Coaches affected will be notified ahead of time of any reschedule done by the Competition Coordinator. Coaches may call each other and come up with a reschedule date for weather related postponements of games. One of them can then call or E-mail the Competition Coordinator who will find them a field providing there is also ample time for the Referee Coordinator to find a referee crew. This will greatly speed-up reschedules.
A Reschedule request Form will be added to the NSL Website before this Season begins. This was a request from Referee Assignors. If a special request reschedule is being made, please complete and submit the form on-line. In addition, the League will begin enforcing the Special Request Reschedule rules (Item 8 in FORFEITS, FINES, AND FEES Section of the Coaches Handbook) that have been in place for several years. Due to the large number of special requests that have occurred over the past several Seasons, the NSL Board has directed the Competition Coordinator to enforce those rules.
Final arrangements
and confirmation of games will be made by the Competition Coordinator.
The toll free NSL number is only for coaches and team managers to use. Do not give this number to your parents and players, it is not for their use. The NSL web site is for everyone. You may give the web site location to all your players, parents, and anyone else you wish to give it to.
Once again; The toll free
number is only for coaches and team managers.
The NSL web site is for
everyone to use.
In addition, the Competition Coordinator now has a new E-mail address available for Coaches and Managers to use if they wish. If you use the E-mail for inquiries concerning reschedules, please make sure you get a response. If you do not get a response, the E-mail has probably not been seen by the Competition Coordinator. Reschedules must be confirmed between coaches and the Competition Coordinator. The E-mail address is as follows;
Sincerely,
John Sozio
Executive Director and NSL Competition Coordinator
